Brookdale Caroling & Compassion

CAROLING & COMPASSION

The Brookdale Homeowners Association and Brookdale Racket Club would like to invite you to a family night of Caroling & Compassion to help celebrate the Holiday Season.

Event: Brookdale Caroling & Compassion

Date & Time: Saturday, December 12 from 6 – 9 PM

Location: Brookdale Racket Club Parking Lot

Overview:

The spirit of Brookdale is what makes our neighborhood the best in Naperville.  Is there a better way to celebrate Christmas and the holidays then a night of Christmas Caroling within our community?   For young and old, many of our best Christmas memories are singing Christmas Carols with true joy in our hearts.

Jingle Bells, Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer, A Holly Jolly Christmas, Angels We Have Heard On High, White Christmas, What Child Is This to name just a few.

We don’t have to tell you we are in some tough times. Another great way to show the spirit and compassion of Brookdale residents is to organize a food drive for a local food pantry. Bring some holiday focused canned goods, packaged food or toiletries and we’ll get them to a local food pantry so people in need can have a decent meal for Christmas.

What We’ll Need:

  • A few singers who can lead us in song. We would ask you to select a few songs that personally have memories for you. A song track and lyrics would be a great addition.
  • Does anyone have a portable music system? Closet DJ’s in the neighborhood?
  • To keep us warm on a cold winter’s night, we’ll need a number of portable fire pits and wood for a toasty fire.
  • A few singers who would like to go to St. Patrick’s Residence.
  • Bring some food and beverage of choice.
  • Trashcans for trash and recycling.

Cleanup crew for Sunday AM if necessary.

We will hold the event on the 12th except if we have:

  • Extreme Cold, temps less then 20 degrees F
  • Rain
  • High Winds, greater then 20 MPH.

Please respond to this email address:  BHA Vice President, ASAP with your offer to help!

Regards

Brookdale's littlest Ghosts and Goblins looked adorable as they Trick-or-Treated at Tabor Hills and St. Patrick's Residence to celebrate Halloween. The residents wore big smiles on their faces and enjoyed visiting with the children.

  • Thanks go out to Tammy Mullen who coordinated this event and kept the tradition alive for Brookdale!

Brookdale Almost Gourmet Group (BAGG)

Posted by EricLEdberg on October 15, 2008 - 3:15pm in

BAGG is a fun group of Brookdale residents who enjoy cooking, eating, and getting together with our neighbors. We have four events during the year. For the Spring and Fall menus, four couples meet at a host's house. Each couple cooks one course from a low-stress, themed menu. The larger get-togethers are a Winter party and a Summer BBQ. These are normally potluck style. All events are BYOB.

National Night Out

Posted by BHA Webmaster on July 21, 2008 - 7:35pm in

On the first Tuesday of each August, National Night Out is celebrated nationwide. The BHA encourages you and your neighbors to use this day to declare to criminals that you will not tolerate criminal activity in OUR neighborhood! Call your block captain and plan a gathering on your block. Get to know each other and learn who belongs in our neighborhood, recognizing who your neighbors are, and making a unified statement that you will watch out for each other and for your properties. Neighbors who are united, and report suspicious activity, have safer neighborhoods to live in and raise their
families.

National Night Out 2008 will be the 25th annual celebration. It will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2008. Events can be held during the day, in the afternoon, or in the evening. Your event can be simple or elaborate....it's your choice. Events can include having root beer floats or lemonade, sharing a pot luck dinner, planning games or activities, and maybe even sidewalk chalk to draw pictures about what safety looks like on your block. Another simple way to celebrate National Night Out in your area is to promote turning on the outside lights at every home from dusk to dawn.

Garage Sale Recap

Posted by BHA Webmaster on June 10, 2008 - 5:37am in

The Annual Brookdale Garage Sale was a great success this May.  More than 65 families signed up to participate over the two weekends, with many more joining in.  A big thanks goes to Chris and Christi Grezlik for helping put out the signs and for running the second weekend of the sale.  Our thanks also goes to Patty Focken with ColdwellBanker and Steve Malik with the Malik/Doherty Team of Re/Max Affiliates for donating brochure holders.  We were able to use them as map holders to drive traffic to the garage sales.

Thanks also to Jennifer Sanchez and Julie Knoll for giving us the bags for the sellers kits.
